Illiana Watermelon Association Convention
We held our 22nd Annual Convention at the
Casino Aztar Hotel in Evansville, Indiana. This year's theme was
"Watermelon At The Mardi Gras". Carrie held her
"President's Reception" on Friday evening. Again, the
watermelon seed spitting contest was loads of fun.
Afterwards some just hung out in the meeting room, while others
"went to the boat" (casino).
Everyone agreed the food and accommodations
were great. We heard news from the NWPB, the Indiana
Department of Agriculture, Purdue and the NWA in Saturday's
general session. Afterward, we held our annual fund
raising auction. We wish to thank our donors , buyers, and
sponsors for this year's events.

At Saturday
night’s banquet, our new queen,
Miss Sabra Brianne Boyd
was crowned by our outgoing queen Sylvia Crowder. Our
judges selected her from 8 lovely contestants who competed
during the course of the convention in categories such as
Speech, Sportswear, Personal Interview, Video Interview, Evening
Gown and others.
